Northville School Board President Lisa McIntyre Announces Campaign for State Representative

Current Rep. Matt Koleszar endorses McIntyre for House District 22

NORTHVILLE, MI — Lisa McIntyre, President of the Northville Public Schools Board of Education and licensed mental health counselor, announced today that she is running for State Representative in House District 22.

A longtime advocate for public schools, McIntyre is running for State Representative because she believes Michigan families need leaders who listen, serve with empathy, and find solutions instead of making excuses. During her five-year tenure on the Northville School Board, McIntyre led initiatives to improve safety in schools and boost student test scores while focusing on staff and student wellness. As Board Treasurer, McIntyre helped the district achieve a AA bond rating, reflecting sound financial management.

“This district needs a leader in Lansing who will protect our progress, invest in our community, and bring a steady, compassionate approach to solving the challenges facing our state. I’ve spent my career working tirelessly to support people and find solutions to problems, and that’s the same commitment I will bring to representing House District 22,” said Lisa McIntyre.

Michigan Republicans’ recent failure to pass a school funding package that delivers for families and kids in House District 22 is a key factor in McIntyre’s decision to serve in Lansing. “Republicans in Lansing have failed to deliver a reasonable budget by the July 1st deadline – leaving our districts, and our kids, in limbo. Not only that, but they’ve proposed to eliminate guaranteed funding for mental health and school lunch. Northville, Plymouth, and Livonia families deserve better,” McIntyre said.

Current District 22 Rep. Matt Koleszar said of McIntyre’s candidacy: “Lisa has a proven track record of getting things done for her community at the local level,” said Koleszar. “This record makes her the ideal choice to be our next state Representative. I am proud to endorse Lisa McIntyre because I have no doubt that when she heads to Lansing, she will be a strong voice for our community.”

McIntyre brings a record of public service, a lifetime of experience in mental health advocacy, and a deep understanding of the values that make Michigan strong. As a mother of three, Lisa knows what it means to fight for a better future. Her family moved to Michigan to be closer to relatives and to raise their children in a district known for strong public schools and a tight-knit community. She chose Northville because it reflects the values she’s always believed in: tradition of academic achievement, conscientious stewardship of resources, and a long history of caring for neighbors.
